Robert Toney Award

Judge Downing with the Toney family and staff from Awana Lifeline and GPSF

Last week our Board President, Judge Robert Downing was honored with the Robert Toney Award by Awana Lifeline. This award is named after our late Board Member and dear friend Reverend Robert Toney in honor of his dedicated service to inmates and anyone seeking the unconditional love of God. As friends and fellow servants, it is incredibly special for Judge Downing to be honored with the award named after Reverend Toney.

Judge Downing has had an extensive legal and judiciary career marked by a passion for working to improve the functioning of the justice system. His more personal efforts have been just as important. For years he has been spending his free time volunteering with several organizations and visiting with inmates in Louisiana prisons. Judge Downing led a project to bring picture Bibles into prisons and also worked with Awana to start the Returning Hearts Celebration at Angola. We are proud of the work Judge Downing has dedicated his life to and so grateful for his leadership at GPSF!
