Salvation Army Recognizes Burl Cain

At last summer’s American Correctional Association conference, The Salvation Army was present to honor members of the public who have made a positive contribution in corrections. There were three awards given at the luncheon; Chaplain of the Year Award, Excellence in Corrections Award, and one of the Salvation Army’s highest honors, the Others Award. The Others Award recognizes an individual or organization exemplifying an extraordinary spirit of service to “others.” Last year our CEO, Burl Cain, was chosen as the recipient of the Others Award for his many years of service in corrections. Burl was recognized for his work at Angola and influence across the country in establishing programs to benefit inmates through rehabilitative opportunities.
