Two years ago this March, Burl met with the president of Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary (SEBTS) to ask for the school’s support of a prison seminary in North Carolina. After several meetings and much hard work on the part of SEBTS, The Heart of Texas Foundation, and GPSF, the seminary is very close to hosting its first classes at Nash Correctional. The event, sponsored by Joe Gibbs Racing, was held to raise funds for the prison seminary and to educate the public on the seminary program and its effects. Based on help from Joe Gibbs Racing, the seminary’s primary sponsor and long-time supporter of prison ministry, SEBTS will be able to begin holding classes at Nash Correctional in August. Student recruitment is in progress now. We look forward to positive updates on the North Carolina prison seminary!
